I KNOW

Thu Aug 13, 2009, 11:52 AM
I know, i'm WAY behind on my portrait-per-day-thingie that I started for myself.

But I have legitimate excuses....ok I don't, but feel free to insert one at this point.
I SWEARS I'll be back on the ball, soon....-ish....I promise.

Yay

So I'm sure some of you may have noticed by now, but i'm trying to do a digital portrait a day for 30 days. I had a little slip up a week ago, but I made up for it by not only doing another portrait but by starting a 'figure' exercise too.

I'm trying to adhere to a strict 2hr max, because I want to get faster and I SUUUCCCCKKKK at finding planes on the human face and interpreting light sources. All photoshop, only 1 or 2 layers. 2-4 different brushes and or brush settings, and lots of experimentation so me and photoshop can get that intimate relationship I always looked for in a human being.

For those who were wondering, these aren't photo manips, I only use the original for reference and I never use the color picker icon thingie from photoshop at all. Well, maybe if I really really need to know, lol, BUT ALMOST NEVER! Which is a whole lot of not usually's.

Sometimes I make up English. Ask my friends.

Anyway, enjoy!

Ok, finally got some steam and I feel I'm back on track. I no longer have painter though (I only had the free trial), so ya'll will have to settle for some characture's of peeps from the internet for a while.

And animals...yeah, them too. Been hanging out a lot at the San Francisco zoo...pre and post tiger attack. I'm surprised I wasn't there when the fur hit the fan, missed it by a couple days.

Still not able to sit down and work with painter yet; i'm at home in LA visiting the folks and my fathers computer freaks out just doing simple things in photoshop.

I'd also like to mention here that I've found an incredible amount of refernce at MySpace and elsewhere on the net. If you see your likeness here and wish it to be removed i'd be more than happy to do so.

I also stumbled upon an interesting website called Suicide Girls, noted for there artistic photography of beautifully alternative young women. There are far too many gorgeous images at the site for me to really choose a handful to paint from, but hopefully the ones I do I can do justice. I'll post a link to the site so that all can enjoy.

I was hoping to keep my momentum going with learning painter...but my eyes are really burnt out. I need a break. Maybe i'll get some of my pencil stuff up instead.

Later!
